The Imam/Moustakib family

Who we serve

Khalifa Imam and his wife, Nadia Moustakib and their two young sons, Imam, age 10, and Iyman, age 4, currently live in an apartment in Garden Grove. Khalifa works two jobs: one as a security guard and the other a position with the State of California in the Department of General Services. Nadia works for the West Coast Islamic Society. Khalifa is from Eritrea, which borders Ethopia and Somalia; Nadia is from Casablanca, Morocco, where they met.

Prior to his family's selection, Khalifa was a construction volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, often working at the Cypress site. He is the only known member of a Habitat program who has been a construction volunteer prior to selection. Khalifa did this knowing he would not be able to count these hours towards his family’s 500 hours of “sweat equity.” He was very impressed with the sense of community that was created by the Cypress Habitat program families, and Khalifa looks forward to doing the same in Anaheim.

Besides creating a sense of community and helping others, Khalifia believes it is very important to give his sons a good, safe home and an education. Habitat is a major step in achieving this goal. It is a pleasure to welcome the Imam-Moustakib family!
