Faith in action builds foundations

Trinity Presbyterian hosts the annual Habitat OC Luncheon for Clergy and Faith Partners

Clergy from all over Orange County joined with Habitat OC on March 18, 2010 to share experiences and enjoy a fine luncheon spread at Trinity United Presbyterian in Santa Ana.

The highlighted speaker, Faith Engagement Director for Habitat for Humanity International, Jonathan Good, presented a startling view of the changing world's Christian religions. Good stated that Americans are more concerned with "spirituality" and are less involved in church life. He pointed to this progression as one of the most significant factors contributing to the support challenges facing faith-based organizations today.

With a focus on meeting the mission needs of congregations in Orange County, Good offered ways Habitat OC can connect with church outreach programs in fulfilling mission goals.

As a symbol of solidarity, participants were asked to scribe messages on pieces of wooden fire block, placed at each table. The inscribed pieces will be used in the San Juan Capistrano home-build.
