Hello everyone. I, Leonel and my spouse Idalia, want to share with you the story of my family and how the support of many people has transformed our lives forever.

For a long time our family struggled to find a decent place to live. We rented rooms in precarious, and overcrowded conditions with the constant fear of eviction. We lived in small spaces shared with several families. Like the room we rented in a three bedroom house where 5 families lived. Every space in the home was rented including the yard where a man kept his car and slept in his car. The house was infested with pests and lacked safe spaces for our children to play. The fear of becoming homeless was a constant in our lives.

Thanks to Habitat and everyone who supports this organizations, our family will finally have the stability and security we longed for. Our children will be able to grow up in a safe and healthy environment, where they can dream big and reach their full potential.

It’s as if we’ve found a treasure, but much better. Last month, a group of volunteers dedicated their time and effort to helping us build a fence and worked on the garden of our new house. As we worked together, I couldn’t help but feel immense gratitude, Seeing the love and energy that the volunteers transmitted touched me deeply.
